Meta Horizon Worlds was built with safety features that help people feel in control of their experience. We encourage you and your teen to become familiar with these settings and resources.

• Teens' Meta Horizon profiles are automatically set to private, so they're able to approve or decline requests to follow them. This puts them in control of who they follow and who follows them.

• We automatically don't show teens' active status settings to other people. This includes their active status and their Meta Horizon Worlds location. Teens can choose whether their connections can see if they're active and which public world or event they're in.

• We use content ratings to help teens have an age-appropriate experience in Worlds. Mature worlds and events are rated 18+ and teens can’t find, see or enter them. Our policies also don’t allow teens to publish mature worlds or events.

• Voice channel transforms your teen's voice and the voices of people they don't know into quiet, friendly sounds, giving your teen more control over who can hear and communicate with them. We automatically turn on filtered voices in voice channel for all teens. Your teen will still be able to hear community guides and people they know, and they'll be able to hear your teen too.

• Personal boundary sets an invisible bubble around your teen's avatar so people they don't know can't get too close. This setting is automatically turned on for everyone, including teens.

• Pause lets your teen quickly take a break from a situation or space.

• Reporting, blocking and muting helps protect your teen from anyone who makes them uncomfortable.

• Turning off the microphone prevents anyone from hearing your teen in Meta Horizon Worlds.

• We want to help prevent teens from hearing from adults they may not know. That's why we take steps to prevent interactions between adults and unconnected teens. For example, we don't display any adults a teen doesn't know in their "people you might know" list.

• Because Meta Horizon Worlds is an open space where people are hanging out in real time, we have rules to help keep everyone safe. Our Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences and Mature and Prohibited Worlds Policy outline how we expect everyone to act and give examples of what kinds of behavior we don't approve of.

*Please note that in South Korea, content rated as mature is not available in Meta Horizon Worlds.

We require creators to rate worlds and events with mature content as 18+ and don’t allow teens under the age of 18 to find, publish or enter these spaces. We regularly review worlds and remove worlds that aren’t rated accurately. We also encourage people to report worlds and events that aren’t rated accurately or anyone they think may be under the age of 18 in a mature world or event. If we review the report and determine that the person is under 18, they will be blocked from mature worlds and events going forward.

We want to help prevent teens from hearing from adults they may not know. That's why we take steps to prevent interactions between adults and unconnected teens. For example, we don't display any adults a teen doesn't know in their "people you might know" list.

We've also built in protections like personal boundary and voice channel that help limit interactions between teens and people they don't know. We automatically turn off active status settings for teens, preventing others from seeing when they're active or what public world or event they're visiting in Meta Horizon Worlds. When a teen makes a Meta Horizon profile, it's automatically set to private so they can control who follows them.

We have community guides in a few key public spaces to help answer questions and report and remove people who aren't following our Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences. We also encourage you to talk with your teens about healthy online interactions and ways they can feel safer, including:

• Keeping personal boundary and filtered voices in voice channel turned on

• Keeping active status settings turned off so that no one can see when they're active or what public world or event they're visiting in Meta Horizon Worlds
• Reporting, blocking and muting people who make them uncomfortable
• Never sharing private information, such as name and location, with people they don't know
• Ignoring invites or requests to follow people they don't know or feel comfortable around
• Connecting with a parent or guardian on Meta Quest app to access parental supervision

Your teen can invite you to connect to their Meta Horizon Worlds account through their headset or the Meta Quest app. Both you and your teen can also invite to connect accounts through the Family Center dashboard.

Once connected, you can access Meta Horizon Worlds parental supervision in the Meta Quest app by going to Menu > Parental supervision. From there, you can select your teen’s account, then select Apps > Meta Horizon Worlds.
