Discover tailored tools, insights and resources to guide your teen toward age-appropriate digital experiences on Facebook and Messenger.
What’s new with Teen Accounts?
A revamped experience for teens, guided by parents
We’re revamping the Facebook and Messenger Teen Account experiences to be inspired by 13+ content ratings. Teens on Facebook and Messenger are automatically placed in Teen Accounts, which have built-in protections around who can contact them and the content they can see. Our goal is for teens to see content, such as posts, reels and stories, on Facebook that's similar to what you would see in content rated for ages 13+, by default.
The 13+ settings and associated protections for teens are being rolled out in phases on Facebook and Messenger Teen Accounts over the course of this year.
Teen Accounts on Facebook and Messenger

Transcript
A protected experience for teens, guided by parents.
Teens on Facebook and Messenger will automatically be placed in Teen Accounts, which have built-in protections around who can contact them and the content they see, and more ways to connect and explore their interests. Teens will need parental permission to change these settings to be less protective.
